Fino a pochi mesi fa non c’era mai riuscita, perché le richieste in Vaticano (triangolate attraverso l’Unità di Informazione della Banca d’Italia) erano state respinte al mittente. Da due tre giorni, invece, cioè da quando Ettore Gotti Tedeschi è stato sentito dai pm romani e napoletani, molti degli interrogativi sulla Jp Morgan potrebbero aver ricevuto risposta.

A insospettire i magistrati di piazzale Clodio era una particolare caratteristica di quel conto 1365: la Jp Morgan prevedeva per il correntista (lo Ior) un’opzione riservata agli investitori abituali. In pratica, a fine giornata, tutte le somme eccedenti una determinata cifra venivano automaticamente investite in una maniera prestabilita. Tecnicamente si chiama «sweep facility» ed è un’operazione perfettamente legale. La particolarità del conto 1365 era che la cifra che rappresentava il tetto oltre il quale investire era «zero euro», e l’investimento prestabilito era il versamento su un altro conto dello Ior a Francoforte.

In altre parole per due anni, in chiusura di giornata, succedeva che il conto milanese dello Ior veniva azzerato e il denaro che era stato depositato quel giorno veniva trasferito in Germania. Per mesi, i magistrati hanno cercato di capire quale fosse la provenienza di quel fiume di denaro che usciva dall’Italia attraverso la porta dello Ior aperta a Milano nella filiale di Jp Morgan, senza mai riuscirci. E uno spezzone di indagine che si incrocia con quello napoletano con le tangenti sugli armamenti di Finmeccanica è arrivato ad ipotizzare che in quel fiume di denaro ci fossero anche le commesse per coloro che favorivano l’assegnazione di appalti per le consociate del colosso di piazza Montegrappa in India e in Africa.

I magistrati romani sono convinti che i vertici di Jp Morgan fossero assolutamente consapevoli della possibile opacità delle operazioni che avvenivano su quel conto corrente. E che abbiano deciso di interrompere unilateralmente ogni rapporto con lo Ior già alla fine di febbraio scorso, quando le richieste della procura di Roma si era fatte più insistenti. Ed evidentemente non si sentivano più tutelati da un presidente come Gotti Tedeschi che stava cercando di trasformare la banca vaticana in una casa di vetro, decisamente più trasparente. Come si è appreso ieri dalle colonne del Fatto Quotidiano, fin dal periodo natalizio l’ormai ex presidente dello Ior era finito nel mirino dell’ala «conservatrice» dell’Istituto per per Opere religiose, che addirittura in occasione di un rinfresco natalizio lo aveva sottoposto all’osservazione di uno psicologo aziendale che aveva poi stilato un sorta di perizia in cui parla di «tratti di egocentrismo, narcisismo e un parziale scollamento dal piano di realtà, assimilabile a una disfunzione psicopatologica nota come accidia sociale».

Ma non c’è solo il caso Jp Morgan nei fascicoli della procura di Roma. Nel suo incontro con i pm, Gotti Tedeschi avrebbe parlato che di incontri riservati avuti con politici di primo piano, riguardati probabilmente le linee di credito di compagini politiche aperte presso lo Ior. Anche questo argomento, probabilmente, sarà oggetto di accertamenti.
