Firenze Marathon 2012, 10mila atleti e 42 chilometri di passione
Ci siamo è partita alle 9:15 la maratona di Firenze. Prima gli atleti disabili poi l’intero plotone. Da Lungarno Pecori a Santa Croce: in mezzo un lungo serpentone che attraverserà la città
Cielo coperto, una quindicina di gradi, musica sparata dagli altoparlanti, palloncini, timer al polso, palloncini colorati, città praticamente chiusa al traffico. C’è chi ride, chi è concentratissimo; o meglio chi prende la fatica con filosofia, chi invece si vuol misurare con lo sforzo estremo. E’ questo il bello della Firenze Marathon, che quest’anno compie 29 anni. Un lungo serpentone di podisti, quasi 10mila, pronti a colorare le strade fiorentine per l’intera mattinata.
PARTENZA da Lungarno Pecori Giraldi, per primi partono gli atleti disabili. Tre minuti dopo, l’intero plotone. Due partenze un unico starter, il sindaco di Firenze Matteo Renzi, in abiti runner activewear (maglietta rossa con tanto di richiamo a Jimi Hendrix “Se sono libero è perché continuo a correre”) e striscia tricolore. Giusto il tempo di dare il via, consegnare la pistola e si unisce agli atleti. Correrà per 21 chilometri, la mezza maratona. Poi si butterà a capo fitto dentro un’altra maratona, le primarie, ma quella è un’altra storia. Un paio d’ore di scarico mentale. Duo ore, in pratica quanto impiegheranno i professionisti a fare il giro della città e, dopo 42 chilometri, chiudere la corsa proprio a due passi dalla partenza, in piazza Santa Croce.
NUMERI – Alla maratona hanno preso parte 9625 podisti: 1537 donne e 8088 uomini. Gli italiani sono 7360 (6455 uomini e 905 donne), mentre gli stranieri sono 2265. La nazione più rappresentata è la Francia con 650 presenze, segue la Germania con 233, Gran Bretagna con 286, Stati Uniti 52 e Giappone con 13 runners. Per quanto riguarda l’Italia oltre che una massiccia presenza di fiorentini (2656) e toscani la provincia più rappresentata con 1110 iscritti è Milano, segue Roma con 623, Bologna 411, Perugia 474, Napoli 378, Bari 196 e Torino con 121.
“La gara sarà molto combattuta – ha dichiarato il direttore tecnico della Firenze Marathon, Fulvio Massini – in particolare tra gli uomini dove ci sarà una bella battaglia tra almeno cinque atleti. Il percorso è scorrevole nella prima parte, forse un po’meno dal 35°km in poi perché si entra nel centro storico della nostra magnifica città. Forse il punto più duro, dove è possibile avvenga una selezione è al 33°km dove si presenta un ripido cavalcavia. E’ previsto un passaggio alla mezza maratona (21,097km) per gli uomini ad 1h03’30” – 1h04’00”, mentre per le donne a circa 1h13’30”, abbastanza veloce per entrambi”.
