This is a very intriguing and different form of picture book. But very tastefully yet thoughtfully done. Mr. Hamilton skillfully and artfully captures the many moods and spirit of his subject and the clearly we can see how wonderful the female form is with the proper light, style and so much more. Brava.

Today I saw that David Hamilton has died: by suicide, apparently. in Paris at the age of 83. He’d recently been involved in a rape allegations going back decades, so his suicide I’m sure will be seen as guilt by one side, and desperation by the other. I’m reblogging this, however, not to drag up old accusations of inappropriate images, but to recognise the incredibly strong influence he had on not just erotic photography.
His soft-focus, misty, languorous, intimate type of female portraiture informs fashion photography as much as studio and erotic/glamour – basically it was beautiful, tactile, and extraordinarily feminine. I really think that in a few years his influence will be seriously rehabilitated….
